This 'Course' of 4-books? Written by this one person...having worked largely solo...with no funding, no institutional support, no corporate editors or publishers, no support-staff.

I thought I was writing a book on the failure of democracies to educate their citizens at the level of a society's dysfunctions. Educate 'citizens' to enable voters to provide 'informed consent', and educate to the level of relational-demand of 'our' relationships of meaning...such as family...to assist said citizens to live more free and productive lives...in right-relationship to each other. That's how this project...got started. And then...a lifetime of watching intentional harm by male-elites...exploded from my pen...

Now, I am 11 months into my 6th year, and past 1,800 pages in 4 books, an instruction booklet, and two still developing websites...the result of my 'life's work' exploding from my keyboards that is slowly being corralled into these 4 books. This was never my goal...didn't see it coming. Most grievous...and joyful project...that I've ever worked to create...having no idea where it was taking me...or where we might end up. And AI...came on to the scene and helped me climb the most amazing mountains of research.

Intelligence and Heart

Young, a Baby Boomer growing up in the shadows of World War II, and in the long shadows of the Civil War that impacted Pennsylvania...I was mesmerized by war and its violence...and how people attending church...i.e., males attending church...'attended' war. It made no sense to me...and still doesn't.

Trying to make sense of the relationships amongst our gods, our beliefs and our violence began young...because the shadows of war were still present in small, rural communities. Somehow...for some reason...in tying to makes sense...I fell in love with words. 

However...I became most fascinated by the history of from where words came and 'evolved to present form. That love of words is something that still pulls me into long digs into word meanings and origins. For me, understanding the role of words that is buried in history is deeply critical to understanding 'us'.

Working with AI Platforms

In November of 2023, I was first introduced to the possible capacities of AI...'artificial intelligence'. Many of us are now familiar with the abbreviation more than the two words...and not many have much understanding surrounding it. Working with Claude.ai and ChatGPT since that November, and more recently with Gemini, the platforms have assist with tons of research, editing along numerous dimensions, checking logic flows, argument coherency, and helping me with vocabulary-development. Have helped me recall books and research that I read long ago, answering every question of correlational and causal relationships...while I've used the platforms to check each other's findings and subsequent assertions. They have been fulfilling '2nd opinion' roles for each other. They are not responsible for writing any of the core text in the books.

Once the 'Course' books were fundamentally completed in March of '25, (i.e., edited by reading each word and sentence out-loud until they made sense) the AI-platforms have run analyses to help me lift 'vocabulary arcs', things I've argued implicitly without expressing explicitly, and all three platforms have offered systemic editing suggestions.

They have helped me tremendously, indexing my illumination of different social phenomenon, as again, because I didn't expect to be involved in an 'explosion' of my life, and consequently had not 'planned' this course or outlined it...it's exceedingly helpful to have a tool that can help you find material in a literal heartbeat...across multiple books.

But...I am 'the writer'. The AI-platform help has been tremendous in 'affordability', but they actually make more work for me...since they greatly expand my horizons in the research focused onour brokenness.

Being the writer, in a 'one-person' organization...hard deadlines are deeply challenging to establish and then live up to...overly challenging until one is close enough to see the 'finish line'...that can maybe be seen...if it's...tomorrow! I've resisted trying to establish deadlines...because I never knew what was still, yet, to organize itself to be seen!

The Challenge of Solo Work

You might imagine how often I am asked..."When are you going to be finished with all this writing?!" I get it...as I ask myself that question frequently as well. I have mistakenly thought that I really could see the 'finish line'...numerous times.

And in the midst of writing this 'Course', there has been seemingly endless 'black swans' - i.e., those rare, high-impact events that: ✅ basically very few of 'us' saw coming ✅ change everything proximal to the 'swan' when they happen ✅ seem too obvious in hindsight ("Of course that would happen!")...and the 'swans' often highly strain too many relationships of all who are near the impact of the event. Such events can be global, national, regional...and even personal in scope...such as the death of a family member.

And the events deeply illuminate...who we are...who we pretend to be...and our core social-identities that orient us during such events.

Those 'swans' landed in all such proximities around me as laid-out above...landing during the writing of this 'Course'. which throws one's life and associated schedules off-course immensely, from what is the informing 'data' of this kind of work, to demanding personal attention in one-person efforts.

    First African-American President elected...finally. Former community-organizer. First time this author voted for a major-party candidate...thinking an organizer would know when to call 'us' to 'the street'. Nope. Sadly, he assimilated into the Washington-Borg.

  2. Books' Cultural 'Moment - Profoundly Historical Election II

    Highly unpopular major candidates to too many...many don't vote. Rupert Murdoch/FOX reaches critical-mass 'poisoning' of U.S. gullible, resulting in election of a profoundly broken man-child. Core support...FOX-centered evangelical-right and rural-right.

  3. Another Election...'Business As Usual'...Enough is Enough!

    Start to write, mid-October. Finally had to admit, no one is approaching this broken nation, society, species at the scale of dysfunction or an understanding of what exactly is broken. Write 100(?) pages on democracies' persistent failures to educate to democracy's need

  4. Pandemic lockdown

    Pandemic forces huge re-organization of social structures and processes globally, Most business and research interactions forced to pivot to remote collaboration; challenged public-health in its role in real time as conspiracies gain large audience in FOX's gullible. Contributes to re-election loss of broken man-child who too often shared conspiracies.

  5. Locating Network Volunteer Readers/Editors...To Flee!

    Writing went well, despite moving away from area. Spent time trying to find people who'd agree to read and maybe edit my output. Each quickly fled, writing too intense and too dense. Reading it left them feeling overwhelmed.

  6. Man-child Inspired Mob Swarms U.S. Capital To Overturn Election

    Constitution-named date to certify election, man-child calls on FOX's gullible..now 'his' gullible...to take back his 'stolen election'. Rattles Congress, the public, the world. This is how far Rupert, his swarm of parasitic imitators and loyal-followers, and the broken man-child and his loyal-followers...how far they are all ready to go.

  7. Putin Invades Ukraine, UN, U.S., Europe...TInkers

    Once more, a deeply broken man-child pushes the world to the brink as he brazenly asserts he should control Ukrainian territory, an effort to be 'more-than chased since 2014'. The U.N., U.S., Europe respond with 'usual'...i.e., words...hesitation...reluctance ...empty assertions and empty promises...i.e., postured 'tinkering'. In the 21st century, elite males still can't figure out how to stop the theft of most anything by other elite males...in a 'timely manner' for those most directly affected.

  8. A Social Scientist Willing To Read.

    Stumble upon a sociologist who had enough interest the 'Course' as to voluntarily do a read with a little edit, providing feedback for behind field-trained eyes. Book was nearing 750 pages.

  9. Three Family Deaths

    Year started with the deaths of 3 close family members within 6 weeks in January and February...two of aging out, one of cancer. Death might not stop writing...but it certainly impacts the brain, the body and schedule. Grief absorbs us in different ways.

  10. First Sense Of A 'Draft' Of Full Book

    Social scientist works her way through the first sense of 'getting through' what I wanted to weave together. First draft was like my first sense of an 'outline' as I didn't know where my rage and disgust with the species was taking me...since I adore our species and our most abundant universe. Thought I was close to finished...at roughly 750 pages. Yeah...not close.

  11. Long Fighting Against Peace Accords, Zionists Test 'Tinkering'

    Trying to push Palestinians out of Gaza since the '78 Peace Accords, Zionists, through Netanyahu, following Putin's unfettered war against Ukraine, test the limits of elite-males who can only 'tinker' against the willingness of deeply broken elite-males willing to break all laws so as to take 'more-than' from others in the path of male-desperation.

    First full manuscript assembled; clarified scope and created baseline language that later let us quantify systemic harm.

    Fuller development of material with two new AI-assistants (Claude.ai and ChatGPT) joining me in research and inquiry in logics, language, and searching for patterns...resulting book-effort exploding again. Page count now around 1,200, divide 'book' into 4-books...and importantly...wrote an instruction booklet for how to read these books...as a reading team.

  14. Re-Election Of Rapist, Fraud-Convicted Broken Man-Child.

    The aging incumbent who helped Netanyahu wreak genocide on Palestinians in Gaza, and failed to address the significant need for institutional change across the board, 'handed' the Oval Office back to the man-child, who came seeking revenge...with billionaires lining up to help. Most inept Cabinet in living memory...by far. Most grifting bumbling parasites filling government roles in modern history. Evangelicals refused to ask, "What would Jesus do?"...while billionaires lined up knowing what they CAN do...now.

  15. Second Full Read/Edit Of Book

    Finish reading every word, sentence, paragraph, etc., in each book. The 'explosion' is now cooling, and book is setting-up in its books, chapters, projects and flow. Book at over 1,500 pages.

  16. T's Broken Cabinet Appointed To Start Testing 'Tinkerers'

    Swor- in, broken man-child starts right in seeking species-members more loyal to grift and theft, than fellow-citizens and law. Wastes no time proving again, most male elites don't know what to do in the face of deeply broken make-elites, since laws were only ever meant to constrain the elite...a little...as they all sought to take...'more-than'...from many.

  17. Work Begins On Activist Outreach...Growing 'A Course In 'Us'?

    Marketing planning becomes serious alongside polishing editing work. Having such minimal resources, living off minimal Social Security...how does this work inquiring into our millennia of social harm to one another...how do I make possible access to the Course at the scale of our harm?

This delay between now and publishing isn't about waiting for the perfect moment. The 'Daily Death Ditch' continues while I and the AI-team work to polish the mirrors and test the tools...i.e., to get what we are lifting for 'us' to see and understand in ourselves...right.

The scale of 'our' recruitment needs to match the scale of our daily harm. Species-level problems require species-level solutions. That's just who...and what...we are...and what social harm is.
